Author's Note: This is a response to the story Thank You, Ma'am by Langston Hughes. I am explaining one quote from the short story.
In the short story Thank You, Ma'am by Langston Hughes, Roger tries to steal Mrs. Jones's purse. Mrs. Jones then caught Roger and took him into her house for the night. In the beginning of the story you can tell Roger is a little ruder than he ends up being at the end of the story. Such as in the beginning of the story Roger lies to Mrs. Jones about him running into her purse and not trying to steal it but by the end of the story Roger had changed and asked Mrs. Jones "Do you need somebody to go to the store, maybe to get some milk or something?". This shows that Roger put some thought into the fact that this woman is going to feed him and she helped him wash his face and he realized the least he could do was ask to go get more food for her. In my mind Roger learned something through out his experience that day, I think he learned that everything does happen for a reason. He had the urge to steal this woman's purse and if he wouldn't have he would have never had got fed or got a clean face and he wouldn’t have gotten his blue suede shoes. This story reminds me a lot of the story April Morning. In this story Adam starts off being snotty and rude to his dad. By the end of the book Adam is a young man after his dad dies and he is more mature and kind to people. In the end Adam got pride and Roger got his blue suede shoes.
Really good piece i thought it was amazing. I think it could be a little longer but over all really good.
