Dear Michael Obi,
I read your story in Language Arts and I was intrigued how you disrespected the elderly priest. The priest was nice and pleasant and you just disregarded everything! If you would have just agreed with him the villagers would have never destroyed some of your school ground. The hedging would still be beautiful and all of your remarkable flowers would still be in place and blooming, but because of your disrespect you affected your job permanently!
If you could just have been a little nicer would would have changed everything. By saying “I am sorry sir I did not know how much significance this path meant to you and all of your village members. I would never have covered it if I knew” it would have changed so much and your school would be normal. If that is too nice you and the priest could have came to some sort of agreement. Maybe you could have a gate on the path and anybody who wants to use it could open the gate. There are so many options for what you could have said. You could have said anything but what you did!
The priest of Ani said to you “Look hear, my son. This path was here before you were born and before your father was born. The whole life of this village depends on it. Our dead relatives depart by it and our ancestors visit us by it. But most important, it is the path of children coming in to be born.” He is telling you that this path does not just matter to the elderly and to the deceased, it is important to the children to come into this world. Because of your ignorance you replied with a rude comment. Hasn’t your mom ever told you to respect your elders?
Even though you got what you wanted because you didn’t take down the blockings to the path, your school grounds got destroyed because people still used the path. You always need to remember there is a difference between educated and intelligent. You think you are educated but you need to know what you are talking about and be able to think quickly about situations. Just like your situation with the priest, if you would have thought about cause and affects before you say something stupid. All because you didn’t do this you affected your job permanently.
In conclusion if you would have just thought about your answer before you told the priest of Ani, nothing bad would have happened. Like I said before you should have just told the priest that you would make a gate so people could use it with your permission. In result of your rude answer citizens destroyed some of your school property and it cost you money. Also you got a bad review because of it. Before I go, I want you to try to be nicer to people and not be so ignorant!
Thank you for your time,
Madison Giordano
